Improving the Success of Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) Programs to Encourage Safe Driving

Summary


M. Davis and Company, Inc. conducted the National Alcohol Crackdown Campaign for NHTSA to assist in the determination of the impact of the National Alcohol Campaign on the American public by measuring public awareness levels of the Campaign and various initiatives, attitudes and changes in behavior, if any.

Process


This study was multi-modal – interviews were completed via mail, internet, and telephone.

The instrument, designed by MDAC in coordination with NHTSA, was created to investigate factors that contribute to the success or failure of an automated speed enforcement program.

This study had a very high response rate, achieved as a result of focused follow-up with law enforcement agencies by MDAC team members well known among the enforcement community.

Results


The response rate for this study was greater than 80%.
