Practice Areas

HEALTHCARE

As one of the largest minority-owned market research companies in the United States, MDAC has experience conducting research with multi-cultural, low income, and elderly populations. We understand that health communication research is a complex area of inquiry that must be addressed to create better healthcare delivery outcomes. Our approach determines which managed care participants with certain health conditions are more likely to experience expensive, life-threatening health events if they do not make regular visits to the doctor. Using several methodologies, MDAC considers the situational dynamics of participants and creates a solution to healthcare challenges.

HOUSING

With the ever-growing emphasis on fair housing practices, there is a greater need for research that increases the understanding of housing discrimination and low-income programs and offers practical, actionable strategies to increase equality. The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in the sale, lease or rental of housing on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status or national origin. A critical component of this law is its requirement that recipients of federal housing funds must do more than just avoid discriminating—they must affirmatively take steps to promote equal housing opportunity – known as “affirmatively furthering fair housing.” MDAC has 25 years of experience in providing marketing research, program evaluation, and consulting services for multicultural and hard-to-reach populations in the housing market. All state, county and municipal governments, public housing authorities, and non-profit organizations that receive federal housing funds must periodically analyze the status of housing opportunity in their service area and certify to the federal government that they are affirmatively furthering fair housing. Our approach is to recognize the uniqueness of the housing market and create studies that offer multiple solutions to improve housing programs, further fair housing, and end discrimination.

TRANSPORTATION

Despite major progress in the battle against driving under the influence, significant increases in the use of occupant restraints, and greater attention to other safe driving behaviors, motor vehicle crashes continue to take the lives of far too many of our citizens. The latest crash data available shows 32,719 people killed on our nation’s highways in 2013. MDAC’s research experts in transit, statistics, data analysis and collection, and relevant presentations offer practical information regarding effective policy and making better strategic and tactical decisions. Our methodologies are proven to provide innovative solutions in both the public and private sector. MDAC has extensive experience in conducting research on significant traffic safety issues now impacting our highway traffic system. Our practical, innovative industry-leading perspective on transit specific research is unparalleled. We are prepared to use our multi-methodological research and relationships with key traffic safety leaders, practitioners, and stakeholders to help your organization assess the strengths and weaknesses in the delivery and promotion of transportation and traffic safety

VETERANS AFFAIRS

Understanding the needs of veterans is an important part of caring for our military once they leave the service. So often, programs fall short of veteran satisfaction and protection, so companies want to find ways to enhance their amenities. Furthermore, many veteran programs are subject to monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting to federal agencies and need deliverables that are accurate and in compliance with regulations. MDAC cares deeply for our servicemen and women and regularly works with agencies to research veteran preferences, best practices, and problems related to veteran services. Using our multi-modal approaches, MDAC will evaluate the chosen population, generate data based on response, and create proposals for practical changes that will help the company achieve their desired results.

DISABILITY RESEARCH

MDAC works with various state and federal organizations to analyze the services and treatment of disabled populations. This work includes the first comprehensive examination of discrimination in the rental housing market against people with mental disabilities, specifically focusing on people with mental illness (MI) and those with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Through our work with various government agencies, we have identified the impact of paratransit services, assisted with conducting the National Core Indicators Consumer Survey Project, collected data regarding emergency preparedness among service-seeking populations, and analyzed the services and treatment of the disabled populations. MDAC is experienced in collecting data from hard-to-reach and underrepresented populations such as the MI and I/DD communities. We can help your company understand the unique needs of the disabled population and give you dynamic solutions to create better delivery of service.

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

In the event of a wide scale emergency, disaster awareness and preparedness saves lives. One of the most important functions of our government is to configure our society’s infrastructure and resources to best respond to emergency situations and mitigate or avoid casualties and injuries. It is imperative government and private organizations know the pitfalls of their emergency programs, the primary challenges faced by individuals in crises, and how best to connect those people to support programs. Especially important in an emergency preparedness program is attention to the unique challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and those with limited access to helping agencies. MDAC has worked with public and private organizations to assess these areas of concern and provide practical solutions that will ensure the safety of the population.
